Honolulu, Hawaii.  September 2010.

Kawaiahao  Church.  This church was built on the site where the first missionaries built their thatched churches.  It was begun in 1837.  It is made from 14,000 coral slabs, each weighing about 1,000 lbs., which Hawaiian divers chiseled out of Oahu’s underwater reefs.  (This is amazing to me!).  It took four years to build.
